Bruce Lee’s famous demonstrations of his one- and six-inch punches in 1964 showed the world that explosive power does not come from long, exaggerated actions. It comes from superior coordination of the whole body.
Sifu Barry Pang explains (and demonstrates) how power can be generated with minimal distance to the target. In fact, with zero distance.
The point here is that we need to learn to develop power efficiently. We must coordinate the complex moving parts of the body in order to gain maximum value at the point of impact. The question posed is how do we train our techniques to the point where power comes instantaneously and effortlessly? That is the challenge.
